BIOGRAPHY

Antonio Astuto

Born in Naples on  09/10/75

The design for Antonio Astuto was the form of communication

with which he expressed himself as a child. Growing up he

did nothing but follow this instinct, graduating from the artistic

high school in Naples and then obtaining a degree in painting at

the Academy of Fine Arts in the same city. His work is divided

into performances on commission and a personal pictorial

production. His commissioned works range from various artistic

techniques: oil painting, copies of the author, trompe-l'oeil,

decorations, sculpture and scenography. The surfaces on which

he works vary from the common canvas to the wall, from the

metal to the fabric for painting. Crete, styrofoam, silicone resins

for sculpture. In his pictorial production there are strong classical roots and the reference to the great masters of the past, such as Caravaggio. He has made the human figure his research point since adolescence. The figure, however, has been used, in fact, as a simple excuse to understand and analyze in depth the shapes, planes, light and shadows that strike a solid body in space. In other words, his is an endless, almost obsessive search for plasticity and volume, but at the same time he poses in an inquiring and acute manner in the introspection of the human soul. He does not look for the photographic resemblance to the subject portrayed, as much as his interiority, his expressiveness, his emotions, very important factors that determine the personality of an individual. For Antonio Astuto the subject is relative: it is not so important what to represent, but how to represent it; in short, the important thing is to make good painting What matters is painting and always questioning, confronting each situation, having firm feet in one's own European artistic tradition, but at the same time having the gaze turned towards the future and being open to all that is new. All this does nothing but enrich your cultural and artistic baggage, as the growth of an artist has no end, his is a direct path to a goal not well defined but just reached, you are ready to look for another .
